For beginners, elementary steps are taught to classes of adults and children attending Swiss ski schools. Groups of would-be skiers of all ages take to the slopes under the guidance of qualified instructors and perform such intricate movements as the "herring bone step", the "kick turn", and the "scissors christiania".
