Issues of medical malpractice and the infringement of human rights are examined as Cooper talks to two Saskatchewan anaesthetists and a surgeon, Dr. John Marian. They explain the dangers inherent in the practice known as double booking of anaesthetists in Saskatchewan hospitals, and testify to the predicament of physicians who publicly speak out against the system. The case of Dr. John Marian, who was dismissed from Saskatoon City Hospital, is commented on by George Taylor, Head of the Hospital's Board of Governors. Huntley Schaller of the Saskatchewan Association on Human Rights decries the hospital's action in denying freedom of speech to Dr. Marian. 2. Compulsory retirement at the age of sixty-five is the subject under discussion as a former teacher presents her case for a more flexible system: Cooper talks to Neil Crawford, Minister of Labour in Alberta. <30mn>Language:EnglishOriginal number:61-2-2152-5003-CDetailed holdings information: -
