In this program, three former guests of PRESS CONFERENCE, a CBC series wherein prominent members of the government and of the Opposition are subject to cross-questioning by reporters from the Press Gallery, have the opportunity to question editorial reporter and columnist Charles Lynch.~The interviewers are: George Nowlan, Minister of National Revenue (Conservative Party); Paul Martin, Minister of Health and Welfare in the former Liberal government; and Hazen Argue, National Leader of the CCF Party. Lynch is asked to comment on overblown and misleading newspaper headlines, the degree of democratic good involved in writing for a large newspaper chain that stretches nation-wide (Lynch is head of the Southam News Bureau in Ottawa); the margin of credence and accountability to the public of a reporters' "secret sources"; and what makes a newspaper sell - publishing reports/rumours, versus waiting until the news is officialy released.~The politicians also question Lynch's policy on the political issues of disarmament, unemployment, and Canada's participation in NATO.~Footage also includes kinescope recordings of THE LYNCHING TECHNIQUE during old episodes of PRESS CONFERENCE.
