Footage of a visit to King William Island; Cambridge Bay, and Victoria Island. Scenes include: unloading supplies from an Energy, Mines and Resources Canada pick-up truck into aircraft; unloading equipment from Bradley Air Services aircraft at campsite on Beechey Island; gravestones; aircraft taking off; setting up large tent; exploration of ruins and smaller tent over gravestone in preparation for work; raising Canadian flag; taking measurements and surveying; photographing gravestones and removing wooden gravestone; Haycock painting; studying gravestone of John Torrington, part of the Franklin Expedition, who died on January 1, 1846, on board the HMS Terror; inspecting old garbage dump; flora; putting document in cache in cairn; hull of a shipwreck in the water; stone church; Aero Arctic helicopter; aerial view of a town site, shipwreck in water and tundra; seal in water; deep sea diving; rock cairn where scientists find a metal can with note inside; divers with seaweed specimens; scientists including Inuk researcher at research station; divers collecting seaweed and fish specimens; Maurice Haycock closing cache and placing in cairn; Arctic fauna; and use of a metal detector (perhaps at Amundsen Camp). <56mn 09s>
