The series comprises ten editorial cartoons or political illustrations acquired by Victor Mackie during the years that he worked for the "Regina Leader Post" and the "Winnipeg Free Press". Topics that are covered include the South Saskatchewan River Dam (i.e. the Gardiner Dam); unrestricted travel expenses by federal cabinet ministers in the Louis St. Laurent government; the St. Laurent Liberals versus the "Winnipeg Free Press"; "disposal" of federal government surpluses by cabinet ministers of the St Laurent government; Confederation Hall, Parliament Hill; Parliament sitting; the proposed move of the Parliamentary Press Gallery; the Parliamentary Press Gallery at work; Lester Pearson and Paul Martin Sr. being driven to the poorhouse; and a portrait caricature of Victor Mackie. The cartoonists whose work is represented include Charles E. Bell, Arch Dale, Peter Kuch, James Reidford, and Scotty Melville (a sports writer for the "Regina Leader Post").
