Count Stephen Altieri is pursued by Mrs. Sarah Cleber. Through her wealth he is convinced to give into her advances. While vacationing on the Rivieria, a jewel thief goes through the hotel. Sarah's jewels are reported stolen amongst the reports of many other guests. Stephen, upon going through their rooms, finds the stolen jewels among Sarah's belongings. He confronts Sarah who promises to reform and the check out of the hotel. At home the Count is informed that he has been left heir to $2,000,000.00. He sends immediately sends Sarah a cheque for $50,000.00 asking her to forget him as he has forgotten her. Sarah swears revenge. Meanwhile Stephen has fallen in love with a pretty blind girl, Mary. After courting Mary they plan to wed. Sarah sneaks into the Count's room and plants the stolen jewellery. She then sends Mary a note saying Stephen is the thief. Mary rejects Stephen on this basis, and Stephen distraught attempts suicide by leaping off a wall. The shock of this restores Mary's sight and she finds her way to Stephen.
