Description:

Technical documentary film outlining the methods of highway construction using concrete. It includes many early highway scenes. Close up of asphalt mixing plant on railroad tracks, men loading conveyors. Extreme close ups of stone crushing machine in action, men shovelling sand onto conveyor. Close ups of measured quantities of stone, sand, stone dust, and asphalt are conveyed to Pug Mill for mixing. Substance is then loaded onto wagons. Extreme close up of hot substance being loaded onto wagons. Close ups of wagons unloading hot ashalt, men spreading same. Steam rollers rolling hot asphalt on road to a two inch thickness. Extreme close ups of thin squeegee coat of hot asphalt applied to seal surface. Shows man spreading same. Two men spreading thin coating of sand on road surface. Steam roller follows.
