This sub-series consists of maps that were created in the Canadian Geographic Information System. The Prairies Miscellaneous Collection was part of the Canada Lands Data System Division, Lands Directorate data holdings that were managed in the Canadian Geographic Information System (CGIS). The Collection consists of the following projects:
Alberta Forestry Service (Project 548-2103). Coverages include: (9157) A.F.S. Administration Units, identifies the Forest Management Unit boundaries; (9158) Public Lands, depicts Public Lands of the A.F.S. to be use as an overlay with Administration Units, CLI Agriculture, Forestry and Ungulates. Coverages are at the 1:253,440 scale.
Alberta Land Inventory (Project 3190-0148). Coverages include: (9126) A.L.I. - Red Squirrel; and (9127) A.L.I. - Beaver and Muskrat; (9130) Alberta County Pilot, contain the township, range and section boundaries within the county of Lac Ste Anne, Alberta, to be overlayed with CLI data and EA boundaries. Coverages are at the 1:250 000 scale.
Cypress Hills Provincial Park Study (Project 3190-0148). Coverages include: (9021) Surficial Geology, Red Deer, Alberta area (data does not exist); (9119) Zones and Subzones; (9120) South Eastern Alberta Leases, depicts the archeological sites, leased areas and mineral rights of the area; (9121) Roads; (9122) Soils; (9123) Land Forms; (9124) Degree of Slope; and (9125) Slope Orientation. Coverages are at the 1:24,000 scale.
Flying Creek Study (Project 3190-0191). Coverages include: (9111) Section Grid Flying Creek, defines the Flying Creek special planning area, NTS boundaries, section, quarter section, land use zoning and rural municipality; (9112) Agriculture CLI, depicts soil association, textual type and agricultural capability; (9113) Terrain Mapping; (9114) Vegetation, Wetland, Shoreline and Municipality; (9115) Topography; and (9128) Geology. Coverages are at the 1:50,000 scale.
Churchill Bio-physical (Project 3190-0102). Coverages include: (937) ERST Study 1; (938) ERST Study 2; (939) ERST Study 3; (940) ERST Study 4. The feasibility studies are for evaluation of satellite and airborne remote sensing for bio-physical land classification; (9019) Bio-physical Map, coverage represents East half of map 54017-20 (Kettle Rapids) in Manitoba. Coverages are at the 1:250,000 scale.
Qu'Appelle River Valley (Project 547- 2102). The Qu'Appelle River Valley of South-Eastern Saskatchewan, is a unique Canadian landorm and was the subject of a detailed multi-theme study in the CGIS archives. Six themes, spanning the equivalent of 24 NTS 1:50,000 map sheets, have been recovered from this collection. Coverages include: (9153) Meridian-Township-Range and Land Use Zoning, defining the Qu'Appelle Valley Special planning area, range and township boundaries, section, quarter section, land use; (9154) Vegetation, Shoreline, Municipalities; (9155) Topography, depicting topographic classes in the Eastern portion of the study area in terms of flat, moderately flat, steep or undulating terrain; (9156) Agriculture CLI and Soils, depicts the soil description, textual type and agriculture capability; (9165) Terrain units in the Central Valley Region; and (9166) Geology. Coverages are at the 1:50,000 scale.
Saskatchewan Coal Deposit (Project 203-2103): Coverage (9151) Coal Deposit Study (Sask.), a pilot project of integrating coal resource information with Canada Land Inventory capability coverages of the lower Saskatchewan area. In the CGIS archives, this collection was stored as a single polygon coverage containing the equivalent of four 1:250,000 NTS map sheets.
Saskatchewan Federal/Provincial Lands (Project 3190-0164). Coverages include: (9031) Township/Range, Saskatchewan, depicts meridian, range and township of the National Forestry Statistics programs extending from 52 degrees to 57 degrees north at the 1:1,013,760 scale; (9042) Meridian-Township-Range and Federal/Provincial Lands of Saskatchewan, is a combination of coverages 9042 and 9031 but for the area 49 to 52 degrees at 1:250,000 scale; (9090) 10km Grid, Saskatchewan, is a 10 km square coverage for Saskatchewan area, 52 to 56 degrees at 1:250,000 scale; (9092) Federal/Provincial Lands of Saskatchewan, identifies exactly the provincial forest and federal lands outside of the provincial forest at the 1:250,000 scale; (9095) Township/Range - Saskatchwan, part of the National Forestry Statistics program depicts the township range grid for part of Saskatchewan from 52 degrees to approximately 57 degrees at the 1:500,000 scale.
Saskatchewan Forestry Inventory (Project 100-5008). Coverage: (9150) SFI Pilot Study. (Project 547-2103), coverages include: (8004) SFI Point Data, depicts point features including air photo centers, fire towers, protected heritage resources and day use camping; (9160) Forest Inventory Update Map, contains polygons of burned over and cut over areas; (9187) Saskatchewan Forest Inventory, Pilot 2, depicts forest cover type, drainage, texture and age; (9191) Management Reservation, depicts reserved areas, road allowances, recreation and wildlife reserves, land claims and areas of special significance; (9192) Silvicture, shows forest treatment areas, seeding, planting and scarification; (9200) Forest Capability, provides seven classes of land suitability for growing commercial timber; (9206) SFI Administration, depicts units to be overlayed with Forest Inventory, Management Reservation, Silviculture and CLI Forestry. Coverages are at the 1:12,500 scale.
Saskatchewan Large Scale Mapping (Project 3190-0093). Coverages include: (932) Large Scale Map Tests, (1:1,000,000 Lambert Conformal); and (9099) Experiment at 1:1,000,000, is to further develop the size and scale of a map for input and manipulation of data at the 1:1,013,760 scale.
Western Canada Mining (Project 471-2102). Coverages include: (9233) Western Canada Mining Pilot : Surface Mineable Coal, in the Shaunanvon, Saskatchewan and Dodds-Brown Hill, Alberta areas; (9322) Western Canada Mining Pilot : Coal Tenure, depicts specific areas of Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia and delineates the status of coal dispositions at a specific point in time for the three provinces noted. Coverages are at the 1:50,000 scale.
Peace River Study (Project 3190-0145). Coverage (9020) Administration, a study depicting 3 study area boundaries in the Peace River area at the 1:250,000 scale. (Data does not exist).
