The accession consists of central registry administration records created and maintained by Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and former Medical Resarch Council (MRC). The files are arranged in the agency's block numeric subject classification system.

Records in the accession consist of speeches and presentations by MRC Officers, mostly Presidents Dr. Henry Friesen and Dr. Alan Bernstein, at events including, but not limited to: Ottawa Life Sciences National Conference, Board of Directors, SSHRC Council Meeting, Canadian Cardiovascular Society, 75th Anniversary of Neurosurgery in Canada, Canadian Breast Cancer Research Initiative, Bayer Family Health Fair.

The accession also consists of correspondence, proposals, invitations, congratulations and thank you letters related to MRC's 25th and 35th anniversaries; and correspondence with and forwarded from Health Canada along with signed petitions for AIDS research funding. In addition, the accession includes correspondence with Japan, United Kingdom and other governments; correspondence, newsletters and reports related to the International Human Frontier Science Program and its Board of Trustees, the Medical Research Council (United Kingdom) and the National Institutes of Health (USA).

The accession also contains documents related to meetings of committees external to CIHR including Navatar, Canadian Blood Services, International Conference on Health Research for Development, Canadian Commisson for UNESCO. There are also documents on meetings of the following working groups and committees: Research Issues and Options Working Group, Working Group on Women in Federal Science and Technology, Biotecanda Science Committee, Interdepartmental Committee on Volunteers, MRC International Meeting.
