The accession consists of operational records created and maintained by the Office of the Minister of State for Seniors (Monique Vezina) of Health Canada. The files are arranged in alphabetically according to subject. File titles are in both French and English.

The accession consists of newspaper and magazine articles, newsletters, bulletins, press releases, memoranda and some correspondence on numerous organizations including: International Federation on Aging, The Alzheimier Society of Canada, the Canadian Abilities Foundation, Seniors Advisory Council for Alberta, Association Canadienne de Gerontologie, Association Internationale Francophone des Ainés, Elderhostel Canada, Grandpartnet Requesting Access and Dignity (GRAND), Older Women's Network, Victorian Order of Nurses (VON). Subjects of records include but are not limited to: "Alive" television series, elder abuse, aging and independence, the International Year of the Family (1994), applications for funding under the Family Violence Initiative, trends in media coverage of seniors, home care, ID card for seniors.
