Mazzoleni, Ettore, 1905-1968 : Conductor, teacher and administrator originally from Switzerland, Ettore Mazzoleni studied mathematics and music at Oxford University and piano at the Royal College of Music. In 1929 he settled in Toronto where his positions included music master at Upper Canada College, conductor of the Toronto Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra, associate conductor at the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and professor at the Toronto Conservatory of Music. From 1952 to 1966, he also worked at the Royal Conservatory Opera School as director. Mazzoleni conducted many works in the course of his career, including The Tales of Hoffmann, The Barber of Seville, Une nuit à Venise, Dierdre and Transit Through Fire.
