The photographs include a number of images of various members of the extended Hallen family; views of Northbrook, the Hallen family home; views of Oxford; rural scenes in both England and Canada; and a number of photographs of unidentified persons and places. The majority of the photographs are black and white albumen prints from the nineteenth century, and include a number of carte de visite and cabinet portraits. One salt paper print, ca. 1855, of an unidentified woman, is included in the fonds.

Images include the following identified people: Lt. Col. William O'Brien (ca. 1900); L. Medford (a small girl, ca. 1875); Uncle Edgar Hallen (ca. 1905); Eleanor Dixon (ca. 1865); J. H. Drinkwater (ca. 1865); a photographic copy of a silhouette of Mary Williams (ca. 1865); "Great great aunt Dixon"; Edgar .... (a small boy; ca. 1875); Hallen of Alloa (a small boy and hobby horse, ca. 1870); Reverend Suckling; Hallen children as adults, including A.D.H. Hallen, G. Hallen, G. St. John Hallen, Margaret A. Hallen (ca. 1865); Robert V. Kennelly (1914, and ca. 1910); Tom Drinkwater (ca. 1880); George Raekes (ca. 1875); George Hallen (ca. 1870). The following photographers are included: G.E.
