This series consists of correspondence, memos, notes and research and product papers. The first volume of this series consists of general claims filed against the Department by corporate entities for services rendered which were contested by the Department, as well as claims by individuals for injuries and wrongful deaths. The rest of the material consists of correspondence with companies and corporations, filed in alphabetical order by company name. The files deal with overdue accounts and delays in provision of services, with products offered to and purchased by the department, with corporate offers to provide testing centres and services, with technology transfers, with research and development issues, with misunderstandings in test results, with consulting services for the Department's needs, with questions of procurement and with offers by universities and other institutions to develop R&D centres.

This series provides very valuable source material on DND's activities in a very crucial sphere central to its mandate -- R&D and the procurement of weapons and services.
