This accession consists of one box of case files related to Manitoba farmers. The files come from the Regina, Saskatchewan office of the Farm Debt Mediation Service of the department of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. From the late 1990s to ca. 2010, the FDMS was part of the Farm Income Protection Directorate. At one time, AAFC maintained one FDMS office at Ottawa headquarters and five regional offices (Fredericton, Quebec City, Guelph, Regina, and Edmonton).

The Farm Debt Mediation Service provides insolvent farmers and their creditors with mediation services pursuant to the federal Farm Debt Mediation Act (FDMA) and Regulations to help them arrive at a mutually satisfactory arrangement.

The files contain applications, notices of intent, financial information, correspondence and summary reports.

Note that this is a 5% random sampling, as recommended by RDA 2001/013 which deals with farm income protection.

Since 2010, archival records are held at the Regional Service Centre in Winnipeg.
