Anglin, Frank : The Honourable Timothy Warren Anglin was born in Cork County Ireland on August 31, 1822 and married his second wife Ellen McTavish in St. John, New Brunswick on September 25, 1862. They had ten children together, with seven surviving into adulthood.
Anglin established, owned and edited "The Freeman" newspaper at St. John, NB from 1849 - 1883. He represented St. John City and County in the Legislature of New Brunswick from 1861 - 1866. From 1867 - 1882 he represented the County of Gloucester, NB in the House of Commons of Canada. Under the Hon. Alexander Mackenzie, Anglin was Speaker of the House of Commons from 1874 - 1878.
The Anglin family moved to Toronto in 1883 when Timothy became the editor of "The Tribune" and an editorial writer for the Toronto "Globe". At the time of his death in 1896 he was a surrogate Court Clerk of Ontario. The Hon. Timothy W. Anglin is buried in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Toronto, ON.
Some of Timothy and Ellen's children rose to prominence in political and theatrical circles. Their eldest son, the Right Honourable Francis (Frank) Alexander Anglin was born on April 2, 1865 in St. John, NB and married Harriet Fraser in Toronto in 1892, producing five children together. One of their sons, Edward, would go on to marry Eleanor Mulvey, daughter of Thomas Mulvey.
Frank was called to the Bar in 1888 and practised in Toronto before being appointed the Judge Exchequer Division, High Court of Justice for Ontario in 1904. Anglin was appointed as a Judge to the Supreme Court of Canada in 1909 and finally was appointed the Chief Justice of Canada in 1924. He resigned in 1933 on account of ill health and died on March 2, 1933 in Ottawa. The Right Honourable Francis Anglin is buried in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Toronto, ON.
Timothy and Ellen's third daughter, Mary Margaret Anglin, was born in the Parliament Buildings in Ottawa on April 3, 1876. She trained at the Empire School of Dramatic Acting in New York and had been a successful stage actress since 1894, performing in America and Canada. She married Howard Hull and died in Toronto on January 7, 1958. Margaret Anglin is buried in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Toronto, ON.
