This sub-series consists of approximately 1020 photographs which document the life and career of A.Y. Jackson, as collected by his niece, Naomi Jackson-Groves, as part of her larger project to document his career. Many of the photographs belonged to Mr. Jackson himself, or to the Jackson family.

The photographs include many portraits of Mr. Jackson, including those by John Vanderpant and Harold Mortimer-Lamb, as well as several of A.Y. during his service in the military in World War One. There are also several prints of official World War One photographs, probably collected by A.Y. Jackson.

There are photographs of A.Y. throughout his life, from a young man, through the granting of several honorary degrees, to his visits to the McMichael Art Gallery in Kleinburg, Ont. in the early 1970s.

There are also many photographs of A.Y. on painting expeditions and as depicted for magazine stories, and several with other members of the Group of Seven, including a group portrait at the Arts and Letters club by Vanderpant.

The sub-series also contains many loose prints and slides which are labelled with numbers from the inventory of his work completed by Naomi Jackson-Groves.

Photographers include: Harold Mortimer-Lamb, John Vanderpant, Louis Jaques, Jock Carroll, Tess Boudreau, Marius Barbeau, Dominion Wide, Canada Wide, and the National Film Board.
