The fonds consists of records pertaining to Guy Ropartz's musical career, which also provide information on a number of composers and writers. It includes 103 letters, postcards and visiting cards from personalities in the European musical and literary world such as Ernest Chausson, Alphonse Daudet, Claude Debussy, Vincent d'Indy, Théodore Dubois, Gabriel Fauré, Charles Gounod, Jules Massenet, André Messager and Ambroise Thomas. The records are addressed to composer and conductor Guy Ropartz.

Ropartz, Guy, 1864-1955 : A French composer born in Guingamp (Côtes-du-Nord), Guy Ropartz studied at the Conservatoire de Paris with Théodore Dubois and Jules Massenet before taking courses from César Franck. From 1894 to 1919, he headed the Conservatoire de Nancy and conducted symphonic concerts in that city, and subsequently carried out the same tasks in Strasbourg (1919-29). He composed numerous works including Dans l'ombre de la montagne, Jeunes filles, Soir sur les chaumes, Marine et chanson, Croquis d'été and La Cloche des morts.
