Sub-series partially documents Macdonald's election campaigns and Liberal Party activities from the beginning of the Pearson government until 1974. The records of the 1962 and 1963 elections from this series are in the First Elections sub-series. This Second Election sub-series is followed by the election records that Macdonald retained at his farm, as the Third Elections Series 1964 - 1977 (vols 15 - 18), and then by election records from the large accession described by McNicholas, these more extensive records are the Fourth Elections sub-series, 1957 - 1975 (vols 19 - 30). Thus all three election series, although keep separate and perhaps created and used differently, are now physically togther. Including the First Election sub-series, all four are now in chronological order.

This sub-series begins with six files of correspondence requesting Macdonald, as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice (1963 - 1965), to arrange that Canadian Government legal work (mostly Central Mortgage and Housing Corporation) in Toronto be given to Liberal lawyers deserving that patronage. Similar correspondence from Alberta is in the Third Elections Series (vol 15, files 5 - 10), and from Ontario and elsewhere in the Appointments to Offices Sub-series (vol 37, files 5 - 12; vol 38, files 4 to 12). The sub-series partially documents Macdonald's 1965 campaign, and concludes with seven files from the 1968, 1972, and 1974 elections.
