Crofoot, Alan, 1929-1979 : A tenor and actor originally from Toronto, Crofoot sang regularly with the Canadian Opera Company, where he made his debut in 1956 in the role of Yakusidé in Madama Butterfly. He performed in many other opera companies as well, including the New York City Opera, the Boston and Honolulu operas, and the Metropolitan Opera (debut in 1978), and in such festivals as those in Stratford, Glyndebourne and Guelph. He performed in musicals (Oliver! on Broadway in 1964) and also starred in the children's show Mr. Piper on CBC television.
