The fonds consists of records documenting the programs and activities of the Royal Heraldry Society, including minutes and correspondence of its committees and Annual General Meetings, financial statements, articles and illustrations for the journal Heraldry in Canada, files relating to fellowships and honours bestowed by the Society, records of the executive, photographs, and other records.

Also included are the English and French versions of a theatrical commerical entitled "Heraldry: Symbols of Sovereign People", produced in 1987 by Changing Images Productions Ltd., and sponsored by The Healdry Society of Canada / La Société Héraldique du Canada., Photographs documenting activities of the Royal Heraldry Society. Photos from the following meetings and ceremonies are included: Ottawa, 26 April, 1966; Montreal, October 1980; Victoria, August, 1990. Also included are photographs of the "Symbols of Splendour" exhibition installations; and the unveiling of the hatchment

There are many dignitaries and past HSC members identified in the photographs. Included are Lieutenant Governor of Ontario Pauline McGibbon; Mrs Alan Beddoe; Dr Jacquelyn Thayer-Scott, President of UCCB; Rev Dr Rokeby-Thomas; Sir Conrad Swan; Hon Goerge Stanley; Gordon Way; Auguste Vachon; Col Andrew Galloway; Robert Pichette; Rt Rev Ralph Spence; Ven Archdeacon Douglas Christie; and Gwillum Simcoe.

Photographers of the pictures include John Evans, J Ross Osborne, Cavouk Portraits, Gibson Studio, Impact Studio, Studio C Marcil, Richard Burn, Harry MacKellar, and Robert Lansdale.

Custodial history:

The records and library of the Royal Heraldry Society of Canada were originally deposited with the City of Ottawa Archives in the 1980s. The City Archives transferred them to the National Archives in 2003 at which time the Society formally donated the fonds to the NA.
