The fonds consists of records pertaining to the activities of the National Office (Toronto) and the Quebec Regional Office (Montreal): letters patent; minutes of meetings; correspondence; reports; records of the committees which select the Centre's Associate composers; membership lists; directors' speeches; financial records; records concerning relations with other agencies, such as broadcasting networks, Canadian and foreign cultural agencies, government departments, provincial and national music associations, copyright societies, musical groups, newspapers and recording companies; files on Canadian composers; concert programmes; photographs illustrating activities, pertaining in particular to the regional centres, the Canadian Cultural Centre in Paris, the International Society for Contemporary Music, CAPAC and the Jeunesses musicales of Canada; sound recordings containing musical and vocal excerpts used for the Images of Canada series broadcast on CBC English network.

Canadian Music Centre : Non-profit organization founded in 1959 by the Canadian Music Council and dedicated to the dissemination and promotion of Canadian music. The national headquarters in Toronto was joined by regional offices in Montréal (1973), Vancouver (1977), Calgary (1980) and Toronto (1983). The Centre has a music library and a collection of reference recordings which make it an exceptional source of information for musicians, conductors and researchers.
