The fonds consists of records pertaining to the musical activities of Michel Brouillette: birth and death certificates; biographical records; passports; diploma; personal and professional correspondence; contracts; financial documents; minutes of meetings; programmes; various texts; promotionnal documents; recording and rehearsal schedules; copyright material; over 400 manuscript arrangements for CBC television, including cabaret songs, folk songs, rock ballads, folk rock, pop music and rock from Quebec and elsewhere, and a few pieces from the classical repertoire; manuscript compositions (pieces from the albums Pointe aux Anglais and Brouillette, themes of television programmes and others); press clippings; notes; sound and video recordings mainly of works and arrangements by Michel Brouillette; photographs of Michel Brouillette and personalities from the artistic community.

Brouillette, Michel, 1931-2005 : Michel Brouillette did his classical studies at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec à Montréal, where he studied piano with Auguste Descarries, composition and orchestration with Claude Champagne, and harmony and counterpoint with Séverin Moisse. In 1968 he won second prize for composition with his piece Mini-flirt at the light instrumental music competition held by the radio community of French-language programs in Belgium. A conductor, pianist, composer and arranger for over 20 years on the CBC's French television network, he composed the musical themes for such programs as Monsieur B, Boubou, Tempo and Zoom. In the early 1970s, at the request of the Greek government, he conducted for three years an orchestra of musicians and choir members attached to the Olympiad of Song in Athens. In 1979 he turned to composition, and in 1980 produced his first long-playing album of instrumental music entitled Pointe aux Anglais. Following this album, the artist resumed his activities as a musician working for others, although he also continued his creative work with the 1983 appearance of the LP Brouillette.
