The fonds contains records illustrating the musical career of J.W. Bearder: manuscript and typescript notes on voice (singing); manuscript arrangement (copy) for men's voices of Resurgam (words by J. Enderssohn, music by Henry Leslie) dated March 8, 1939 and dedicated to A.E. Heatley & Capital Male Chorus, Ottawa; annotated published books and scores.

Bearder, John W. (John William), 1873-1958 : An organist and choirmaster in England, John W. Bearder emigrated to Canada and pursued his career as an organist from 1907 to 1950 in the Anglican churches of St. Peter's, All Saints' and St. Matthew's. In 1915 he founded the orchestras of the Ottawa Collegiate Institute, and from 1926 to 1927 was president of the Canadian College of Organists. He composed songs and choral pieces, as well as music for violin and piano.
