Fonds consists of 4 watercolours of scenes in Western Canada, likely all created by Sophia Mildred Atkinson during an early visit to Alberta ca. 1925-1927. Those acquired in 1928 are entitled: "High River at Harvest Time" and "Harvesting Oats, near High River," both scenes in Alberta, both dated 1927 (art accessions 1992-490-1 and 1992-490-2). The latter 2 acquired in 2002 are entitled: "Camp at Base of Mountain with Figures and Wagon in Foreground" and "Small Canadian Township," given the date, both likely scenes in Alberta (art accessions 2002-R10883-1 and 2002-R10883-2).

Custodial history:

Two of the watercolours:"High River at Harvest Time" and "Harvesting Oats, near High River, Alberta" (accession nos. 1992-490-1 and 1992-490-2) were acquired from the artist (Sophie Atkinson) who was living in Ottawa, on May 5, 1928. Two watercolours were acquired at auction from J.C. Featonby Auctioneers & Valuers, Whitley Bay, Tyne & Wear, United Kingdom, on March 4, 2002.
