Sub-series consists of miscellaneous "office books" maintained in the Clerk's Office. The Clerk would have maintained such records in order to ensure the efficient operation of his office and to track the work performed by his staff (by such means as regular reports of work accomplished and the maintenance of inventories of records held). The records include documents such as daily logs of work carried out; weekly reports of duties performed; reports and returns; accounts of fees paid in the Council Office; the "UE List" maintained in the Executive Council Office as well as muster rolls, provisions lists and other records used to compile the "UE List"; standing orders relating to land grant procedures; and a register of warrants issued on the Dereham and Norwich Fund. Such records form a very incomplete series.

Textual records (Paper) Finding Aid MSS1802, commonly called the "Upper Canada Land Index", is an alphabetical nominal card index. It serves, primarily, the records found elsewhere within this fonds in the two series titled: Land Submissions to the Executive Council; and Land Minute Books of the Executive Council. In that one volume in the present sub-series (vol. 563) was included within the series which is now titled Land Submissions of the Executive Council, at the time at which finding aid MSS1802 was created, that finding aid may be useful for locating information (especially personal names) in vol. 563. Textual records (Paper) Finding Aid MSS1802 has been microfilmed (reels C-10810 to C-10836 and H-1976 to H-1978). The CAB RG 1 Shelf List (see RG 1, L3 section) includes a microfilm shelf list for these reels. Custodial history:

While the majority of the records in this sub-series were acquired from the Privy Council Office in 1907, the register of warrants issued on the Dereham and Norwich Fund, 1800-1805 (formerly RG 1, L7, vols. 74-75) is date-stamped as having been received in the Manuscript Division 7 December 1946. As no Accession Register entry was located for this material, its provenance is unknown.
