Drawings done by Canadian school children which had as their theme a response to the question "What does the centennial of confederation mean to you?" The drawings present a visual concept of events which helped to shape Confederation in 1867 as seen by school children in Canada in 1967 who have experienced a delight in the homeland, its history, and its future. A list of all of the subjects and the names of the individual artists and their home town is included in the accession file.
The material was originally offered to the National Gallery of Canada but were transferred to the National Archives as part of the Centennial Commission's records..
These children's drawings were initially solicited from Provincial Departments of Education (with the exception of Quebec) to try and determine a story line for the Confederation Train and Caravan They were instead mounted in a separate exhibition and toured throughout Cenennial Year from St. John's to Victoria The drawings were also displayed at the Centennial Centre in Ottawa
