This item is a case book of London boys who were admitted to a collecting centre at Walton-on-Thames for assisted emigration to Canada.

Each case consists of a handwritten history with background on family breakdown, arrangements made for care, when and where in Canada sent, followup on wellbeing of each boy. Details of employment in Canada are frequently provided. In addition to the textual information, there is also a posed photograph of each boy mounted next to the case history. The case book runs for the period 1855 to 1858. Ages range from approximately 12 years to 23 years. In addition to the posed portrait of each boy, there are also uncaptioned photos of groups of boys.
