Collection search - Central registry files of Quebec Regional Office [textual record]

Records consist of general administration files, statistical reports and case histories created and/or maintained under the Claimant Assistance Program by the local offices of the Unemployment Insurance Commission's Quebec Regional Office.

In the early 1970's, the UIC went through various operational changes as well as legislative changes in the Unemployment Insurance Act. The operational changes were implemented to provide improved service to claimants and to enhance job search opportunities through Canada Manpower Centres. Three french units were established with 1200 employees. Exchanges of personnel between administrative regions were encouraged to increase the service to the public in both official languages.

The files in this accession consist primarily of routine statistical summaries area. There are a few files with correspondence and memoranda which reflect some of the operational activities of the Quebec region.
