This series contains Canadian Army War Crimes Investigation Section personnel files and case files relating to the war crimes trials and investigations of Japanese officers accused of atrocities against Canadian prisoners-of-war. Case files relate to the following Japanese officers and camp personnel: Inouye Kanao (Kamloops Kid, Slap Happy), Interpreter; Sergeant Matsunobu Shigeru; Niimori Genichiro (Panama Pete), Interpreter; Sergeant-Major Omura Kyoshi; Major-General Shoji Toshishige; Major-General Tanaka Ryosaburo; Colonel Tokunaga Isao (Fat Pig); and Lieutenant Yoshida. Included in these are correspondence and messages, memorandums, affidavits, statements, testimonies, abstracts of evidence, summaries of examination, charge sheets, particulars of accused, proceedings, notes and forms. Personnel and case files are filed in an alpha-numerical order.
