Live CBC television coverage of the first ministers' conference on energy and the economy, from the National Conference Centre in Ottawa. Included are statements by Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau and the provincial premiers, interviews of Trudeau and some of the premiers, and analysis by a panel composed of: John Saywell, professor of history and environmental studies at York University; John Ballem, a lawyer for the Canadian Petroleum Association; and Ian McDougall of Dalhousie University. Federal energy minister Don Macdonald also makes a presentation to the first ministers. <8h 30mn>

1. Recorded off-air by the Management Information Centre of the Privy Council Office from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. from CBC Ottawa television station CBOT.~2. Occasional breakup of the audio and video signal.~3. During actual conference proceedings, voice of translator audible, making actuality osund difficult to understand using the mix of audio channel 1 and 2, but actuality sound usually can be isolated on CHannel 1 when the language is French and Channel 2 when the language is English.~4. Tape 461 has voice of unidentified children mixed with the instorudction to the news special, from an unrelated, unidentified Société Radio-Canada production, but the unrelated audio is not on Channel 2.~5. Last several minutes of tape 464 contains part of the British television program Coronation Street.~6. Tape 465, recorded form 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. when the delegates were at lunch, contains the following: the continuation of Coronation Street from tape 464; a brief intervention from Lloyd Robertson to explain that the break was taking longer than scheduled and that coverage would resume in 30 minutes; part of a filler film about Holland by Bonaventure Films.~7. Actual conference proceedings end a few seconds after the start of tape 469, but CBC coverage, including analysis and interviews, continues for 80 minutes.~8. Followed on tape by 8 minutes of the CBOT program Generation.
