Wertyporoch, Eugene : Born on April 17, 1898 in Liashkakh Korolivskykh in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. He completed high school in 1916 in Lviv. After graduation, he was drafted into the Austro-Hungarian Army and served as a officer. He then served in the Ukrainian Army and in 1920 was taken prisoner by the Polish Army. He was released and he then returned to Lviv and resumed his studies. He continued his studies in Danzig and graduated as a chemist in 1926. He continued to work in Danzig until 1933. After 1934, he worked in Stanislaviv, Lviv and Warsaw. In 1941, he worked in Krakow and later taught in Lviv. In 1944, he left for Austria and Germany. He immigrated to Canada in 1948 and settled in Toronto. He became president of the Shevchenko Scientific Society from 1949 until 1973. He was also an active member of several Ukrainian Canadian associations. He was the author of several articles and publications. He died on January 12, 1973 in Toronto.
