Three months later, now a foreman, he foils an attempt by a rival camp to steal their boom. Tom conspires with the boss of the rival camp to set fire to the sawmill but Jennie overhears the plans, warns Jim, and brings the sheriff. The incendiaries are beaten off in a fierce gun battle.
