The Canadian Government Ship CGS Arctic on its Eastern Arctic Patrol of 1925. Scenes include: Archaeologist examining whale vertebrae, ancient ruins of Eskimo (Inuit) dwellings and taking measurements and photographs at Dundas Harbour; Inuk woman feeding dogs; close-up of sled dogs; Inuk man rubbing nose with Inuk girl and shaking hands with other Inuit women; unloading supplies; animated map of Canada showing geographical place names of posts to be visited including Father Point, Godhavn, Etah, Kane Basin, Craig Harbour, Dundas Harbour, and where the CGS Arctic was caught and held in the ice-pack for 20 days; crewmen of the CGS Arctic boxing on an ice flow; polar bears; supplies being unloaded from CGS Arctic for the RCMP post at Kane Basin; icebergs; surveyor taking measurements; "Kane Basin Detachment, Royal Canadian Mounted Police" also written in Inuktitut on building; drawings and sketches of Inuit women's clothing; Eskimos (Inuit) and RCMP raise the flagpole at Pangnirtung; CGS Arctic visits Godhavn, Greenland and detachment; unloading supplies; ice floes, icebergs, and rugged coastline en route; CGS Arctic at Ellesmere; "RCMP Bernier Detachment North Devon" on building; Bernier inspecting RCMP workmen building a structure at North Devon; supply cache with inscription: "Cache 1924 NWT Branch Dept of Interior"; Eskimos (Inuit) pose for the camera; Inuk woman skinning hide; Inuk woman wearing glasses, stitching and chewing mukluks; and archaeologist examining pile of whalebones. <19mn 07s>
