The collection, which was donated by John Banks, consists of a painting by Susan Benson entitled Eric Donkin as Ko-Ko in the Mikado. It is accompanied by a cloth dragon belt that Benson designed for the costume that Donkin wore.

Benson, Susan, 1942- : Designer brought to the Stratford Festival in 1974 (where she is still resident) during Robin Phillips ' artistic directorship. She was born in Bexley Heath, Kent, England, April 22, 1942. She studied at the West of England College of Art and came to this country in 1966.

Although she has designed for many other companies (including Manitoba Theatre Centre , Neptune Theatre , Young People's Theatre and in April, 2002, Canadian Stage 's production of Indian Ink) she is most recognized for her work at Stratford. Among her many designs for the company is the touring production of The Mikado (1983), and productions of The Tempest, HMS Pinafore, The Merry Wives of Windsor, The Gondoliers, The Pirates of Penzance, Iolanthe and Taming of the Shrew among many others. She has also designed for opera and ballet (the 1999 production of Madama Butterfly at Victoria Opera).
