This series documents Robert Layton's activities as Minister of State (Mines) from 1984 to 1986. The series is arranged by a four-digit block numeric filing system, consisting predominantly of files copied from the departmental registry system with some additions and annotations by the Minister or by his staff. Files include notes on the Cabinet Committee on Economic and Regional Development, Prospectors and Developer Association, and the American Mining Congress. The end of the series consists of a small number of unfiled material, including briefing notes from 1986, working files on a number of key issues: Cyprus Anvil Mine, Asbestos, Tin and Uranium and a number of memos to Cabinet..
