Fonds consists of original sound rolls, films and transcripts used in the production of As Long as the Rivers Flow, a series of five one-hour films exploring the history of aboriginal peoples in Canada, and the struggle of Canada's native people to regain control over their destiny. Produced for the films Flooding Job's Garden, Starting Fire with Gunpowder, and The Learning Path, the sound rolls include original interviews with native people including James Bay Cree; founders and producers of the Inuit Broadcasting Corporation (IBC); and three aboriginal educators living in Edmonton, Alberta. Moving image recordings include a rough cut of the film The Learning Path, and the short documentary The Eyes of Children, a film that focuses on the lives of aboriginal children who attend Kamloops Indian Residential School. Transcripts document oral history interviews with several individuals featured in the The Learning Path. Material has been divided into three series as follows: James Bay Cree; Starting Fire with Gunpowder; and The Learning Path.

Tamarack Productions (Firm) : Tamarack Productions was founded in 1989 by filmmaker James Cullingham in order to develop a series of films in which aboriginal and non-aboriginal filmmakers interested in native issues could explore these interests. Tamarack Productions has established a filmography of documentaries about social justice, history and politics. Its first production was the five-part documentary series entitled "As Long as the River Flows", a series that garnered over twenty international awards including The Public Jury Award at The Nyon Documentary Film Festival and the Producer's Award at The Amercian Indian Film Festival in San Francisco. Tamarack Productions is based in Toronto, Ontario.

Cullingham, James, 1954- : James Cullingham was born in Toronto, Ontario in 1954. He was raised in Toronto, Florida and Switzerland where he completed high school. Thereafter, Cullingham earned a B.A. in Native Studies from Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario. Cullingham's education and experience have served him well in his various roles as filmmaker, writer, educator and broadcaster. He has served as Executive Producer with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, is founder and President of Tamarack Productions, completed several award winning documentaries, has been published in Canada's leading newspapers and magazines, and works at present as a professor with the School of Communication Arts at Seneca College in Toronto.
