The fonds consists of twenty colour and black & white photographs of the international auto-racing circuit by Allan de la Plante.

De la Plante, Allan, 1945- : Allan de la Plante is a photographer who specializes in pictures of sports personalities. In 1970 he began taking photographs of sports figures, especially those in automobile racing. In 1974 he took an assignment to cover the Russia-Canada hockey series for the National Sport and Recreation Centre. From 1974 to 1976 he worked on the First Canadian Gallery of Athletes, which was commissioned by the Bank of Montreal. Also in 1976 he worked as the official Canadian and COJO photographer at the Montreal Olympic Games.

His publications include: "Ski Free" (1978), "Villeneuve" (1982), "The Original Gas Bar-B-Q Cookbook" (1983), "Canadian Tour of Pope John Paul II" (1984), "Flame of Courage" (1993).

The release of two commemorative stamps depicting Gilles Villenenuve by the government of Canada on June 12, 1997 was based on Allan de la Plante's work. Allan de la Plante web site at . Web site viewed January 23, 2003. 206930
