Fonds consist of photographic depictions of the activities of the personnel of the Women's Royal Canadian Navel Service (WRCNS), St. John's Newfoundland, and Halifax, Nova Scotia. The following activities are documented: ceremony marking the second anniversary of the Women's Royal Canadian Naval Service, HMCS Avalon, St. John's, August 1944; WRCNS personnel dining in the mess hall at HMCS Stadacona, Halifax, ca. 1944; synchronized swimmers in the pool at HMCS Stadacona, ca. 1914; dance at HMCS Stadacona, ca. 1944; arrival of the troopship New Amsterdam, Halifax, ca. September 1945; farewell to WRCNS personnel at HMCS Stadacona, 12 March 1946. Photographs are by the department of National Defence, J.C.M. Hayward, Halifax, and by unknown photographers.
