The collection consists of 40 7x10.5 inch archival prints on 11x14 paper. The photographs depict workers and members of the Canadian Auto Workers union in their various workplaces, from factories to service centres and fast food restaurants. The photographs are part of a larger commission by the CAW to V. Pietropaolo, to document Canadian workers for the publication, 'Canada at Work/Canadiens au Travail,' published in 2000 as a millenium project. The 40 prints represent a smal sample of the over 150,000 negatives created for this project by the photographer. He also contracted other photographers to shoot workers in certain locations in Canada, but the large majority of the photographs in the book, and all those in this acquisition, are by Pietropaolo.
