Collection consists of one composite ink drawing on paper and one linocut in two colours on paper both the work of Canadian artist Thoreau MacDonald (1901-1989). The drawing is one of the original illustrations prepared by the artist for the book "A Year On The Farm Or The Woodchuck's Almanac" / "Drawings by Thoreau MacDonald" / (Published) "1934", by The Woodchuck Press. The work is the drawing for the month of April, the caption in the publication reading "APRIL. Plant corn when oak leaves are as big as a Squirrel's ear". The scene appears to be inspired by the back of the MacDonald residence in Thornhill, Ont., showing the shed and the outdoor pump with trees in the background and a man raking the soil nearby, in a corner of the garden. The linocut depicts a moose walking in a landscape.
