The collection consists of a photographic album which documents the presence of the Women's Division of the RCAF in London, England during World War Two (1942-1945). The Division was created in June 1941, and the first 150 candidates were trained in October of that year. The first 'flight' of the W.D., as it was known embarked for England on August 21st, 1942, consisting of 2 officers and 40 airwomen. They arrived in England 10 days later. The W.D. continued to recruit until 1944, and the total number of W.D. personnel reached 17,000 before the end of the war. Thirty W.D. servicewomen lost their lives during the war.

The album contains many photographs from the UK series of the DND photographic fonds (acc. no. 1967-052), as well as other personal and publicity photographs. It also contains some newspaper clippings and other ephemera related to the Women's Division. Most of the material documents activities at the headquarters in London, England.

The album was created by Nano Pennefather while she was attached to the Women's Division of the RCAF and was sent to her after the War.
