This accession consists of textual records relating to vital statistics 1880-1971 (birth, death and marriage) of various bands across Manitoba, presumably collected by various Indian agencies, but eventually merged and maintained by the Manitoba Regional Office of the Department of Indian and Northern Affairs in Winnipeg. These files are arranged by the department's old modified duplex numeric system. The first group of vital statistics records relating t Island Lake Bands (Island Lake [dicided in 1969 into: Garden Hill, Red Sucher Lake, St Theresa Point, Wasagamack], God's Lake, Oxford House) are arranged alphabetically, while the second group are arranged by band number, from Brokenhead Band (261) to Chemawawin (309).
