Sub-series consists of notes, briefing books and background documents prepared for Ms. Carney during her tenure as Minister for International Trade (1986-1988). Included in this sub-series are papers prepared by her legislative assistant Liz MacDonald and briefing books on various trade issues, negotiations and meetings with foreign dignitaries, including: Softwood Lumber, meetings with United States Secretary of Commerce Malcolm Baldridge, meeting with French Trade Minister Michel Noir, and the First Ministers Meeting on Canada - United States Trade Negotiations. Also included are briefing packages, background documents and notes for various Cabinet Committees that Ms. Carney sat on while Minister of International Affairs: Economic and Regional Development, Trade Negotiations, Foreign and Defense Policy, and Priorities and Planning.
