Series consists of textual and photographic records created and maintained in Pat Carney's office on Parliament Hill during her time as Progressive Conservative Member of Parliament. The textual records reflect various aspects of her role as a member of the Opposition (1980-1984), as Minister for Energy, Mines and Resources (1984-1986) and as Minister of International Trade (1986-1988).

The series also consists of over 4,000 photographs documenting various aspects of Ms. Carney's political career. These include campaigns and work with constituents in Vancouver Centre; publicity photos and official portraits; speeches in the House of Commons, and Canada Day at Expo '86; pictures of Carney as Minister for Energy, Mines and Resources and for International Trade; as well pictures at other speaking events including meetings with foreign dignitaries and at political conventions. Pictures are in both black and white and colour and in print, negative and contact sheet formats.

Objects comprises one campaign button and one button for the Sun Yat Sen Memorial Gardens.

Custodial history:

The records in this series reflect a disrupted records-keeping system. The records were created and maintained by Minister Carney and her staff and by departmental staff in Energy, Mines and Resources and International Trade. The original order was altered somewhat in the years after 1988 during the preparation of Pat Carney's autobiography; it was not kept intact and was partially reorganized. The current organization is an attempt to restore the original order but gaps exist and the record must not be considered complete.
