Collection search - Modified duplex numeric central registry records of Manitoba Regional Office and Portage La Prairie Agency [textual record]

This accession consists of textual records created and/or maintained by the Manitoba Regional Office as well as from the Portage La Prairie Agency between 1930-1978. The files are grouped by originating office and are arranged according to the department's old modified duplex system. Subjects covered by operational records include but are not limited to the following: Band Management and Trust Funds. There are also records pertaining to Vital Statistics - Births, Deaths, Marriages, predominantly from the 1940s - 1960s, for all Manitoba bands, and Vital Statistics - Correspondence, predominantly from the 1950s - 1960s, for bands administered by the Portage La Prairie Agency (Waterhen, Waywayseecappo, Long Plain, Sioux Valley, Swan Lake and Gamblers). These records are held, and can be consulted, at the Regional Service Centre in Winnipeg, MB

Records originating from the Portage La Prairie Agency of Indian and Northern Affairs were first sent to the department's Manitoba Regional Office in Winnipeg prior to being shipped to the Manitoba Region Federal Records Centre.
