Grand Trunk Western Railroad Company (1928-) : La Grand Trunk Western Railroad Company a été formée le 1er novembre 1928 en tant que propriété exclusive des Chemins de fer nationaux du Canada par la consolidation des dix compagnies suivantes : Bay City Terminal Railway Company, Chicago, Detroit and Canada Grand Trunk Junction Railroad Company, Detroit, Grand Haven and Milwaukee Railway Company, Grand Rapids Terminal Railroad Company, Grand Trunk Western Railway Company, Michigan Air Line Railway, Toledo, Saginaw and Muskegon Railway Company, Chicago and Kalamazoo Terminal Railroad Company, Detroit and Huron Railway Company and the Pontiac, Oxford and Northern Railroad Company. La nouvelle compagnie a acquis tous les actifs et s'est chargée de toutes les dettes des anciennes compagnies. Cette consolidation visait à rendre l'exploitation plus rentable et efficace et à placer les finances sur une base saine et indépendante, dans la mesure du possible, de celles de la maison-mère, le Canadien National. Plusieurs des autres compagnies de l'ancienne Grand Trunk ont été rachetées plus tard. Elles existent toujours.
