The sub-series comprises selections from the files of the Sir Henry Rider Haggard mission. Haggard travelled to Canada and the other Dominions in 1916 on behalf of the Royal Colonial Institute to investigate the possibility of coordinating the settlement of disbanded soldiers on the land in the various Dominions after the First World War. The sub-series holds files on the origins and policy of the mission, its organization and finance, the journey itself, and subsequent action. Some of the correspondents represented include Sir Harry Wilson, Secretary of the Royal Colonial Institute; Earl Grey; Lord Sydenham and Bonar Law; J. Obed Smith of the Department of the Interior, Canada; G. McLaren Brown of the Canadian Pacific Railway; A. R. Uvedale Corbett, mission secretary; and Algernon E. Aspinall of the West India Committee. The sub-series is on reel A-1184.
