Part of a 7-hour national radio program by the Canadian Radio Broadcasting Commission (CRBC) in celebration of King George V's silver jubilee. As the record begins a chain broadcast of greetings from the Lieutenant Governors of the Canadian Provinces is in progress: the Lieutenant Governor of Quebec, the Honourable E.L. Patenaude, speaking in French (the 6th speaker); the Honourable Murray MacLaren, Lieutenant Governor of New Brunswick, speaking from Frederiction (7th speaker); the Honourable George Desbrisay De Blois, Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island, speaking from Charlottetown (8th speaker); and the Honourable Walter H. Covert, Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, speaking from Halifax (9th speaker). Covert says that he has listened with pleasure to the roll of music of the bands from Halifax to Victoria, and the greetings of the lieutenant governors commencing at the Pacific Ocean and moving east. This is followed by a chain performance of "The Maple Leaf Forever", with the announcer identifying each band in turn from Vancouver, Regina, Winnipeg, Toronto, Quebec and Halifax. The bands are synchronized by a metronome. The announcer identifies each in turn. The program concludes with His Majesty's Grenadier Guards Band under the direction of Lieutenant J.J. Gagnier playing "Soldiers of the King" from Montreal. <15mn>
