The collection consists of moving image material documenting the voyage of the hospital mission ship Columbia along the coast of British Columbia, and the work of the mission personnel in First Nation's communities. In addition, there are typed booklets of description that were intended to be read as narration to the films. The booklets do not describe all of the film reels.

Anglican Provincial Synod of British Columbia : The Anglican Provincial Synod of British Columbia consists of "all the Bishops of the Church of England in Canada having Sees within the Province of British Columbia or executing by due authority the Episcopate as Coadjutor Suffragan, Assistant or Missionary Bishop therein, and of delegates chosen from the Clergy and Laity thereof according to the Constitution and Canons ofmthe said Synod". The Synod was constituted and met for the first time in 1914. They were incorporated by provincial legislation in 1919. Originally consisting of four dioceses, a fifth diocese was added in 1914, and a sixth in 1941. The Provincial Synod exercises limited powers, dealing only with matters of general interest not delegated to the General Synod. In addition, constituent diocese do not have to enforce canons or resolutions of a coercive nature passed by the Provincial Synod until accepted by their synods. In the early 1990s the name of the Ecclesiastical Province was changed from British Columbia to British Columbia and Yukon. Archives Association of British Columbia. 25 September 2002. . 1485

The following description was provided by staff. It was revised 2024-01-25 to address outdated and/or harmful descriptive language. "Collection consists of moving image material documenting the voyage of the hospital mission ship Columbia along the coast of British Columbia, and the work of the mission personnel among the Indians."
The textual records with the typed narration were extracted from the accession file and added to the fonds as archival records on 2024-01-25.
