Shown are scenes of the 1930's from newsreel footage, interviews with people who experienced the Depression, the Oshawa General Motors Strike, Lunenberg fishermen struggling for a living, Relief and other scenes. Comments are voiced by Police Chief Webster of Vancouver on bootlegging. An interview is held with the son of the Ontario Lieutenant Governor who was in office during the Depression. News of the World footage shows the funeral of George V, the abdication of King Edward VIII, the coronation of George VI. An interview is conducted with Michael Fennick, an Oshawa plant striker, and with Barry Broadfoot, author of "Ten Lost Years". The Bluenose is shown racing off Nova Scotia.
